How realtime is counted
Counts
- Each event your app sends into a stream counts as one message. Larger than 64 KiB counts once per started 64 KiB.
- A streamed AI answer counts as one message, however many tokens or chunks it carries (again past 10,000 events or 10 MiB).
- Presence updates up to 4 KiB, like cursors and typing, count ten to a message.
Free
- Delivering to readers: one message reaching 10,000 people is still one message.
- The chunks inside an AI answer, reads, catch-up after a reconnect, and open connections.
- Retries of the same post, and anything the relay rejects.

- Every post answers with billed: { messages, presence, runs }, so you see the count while you build.

Questions
- What does the free tier include?
- Every product, every region and every feature, up to the Free allowance above, each calendar month. No card, no trial end.
- What does Pro add?
- Bigger allowances for €20 a month, usage past them billed at the prices above instead of a pause, an optional spend cap, and email support with an answer by the next business day.
- Can I sign up today?
- Access is by invitation while we scale. Request access with your use case; your organisation starts on the free tier the day it opens.
- What happens at the Free limit?
- At 80% the Console warns you. Past 100% it shows you are over. At 110% that kind of new usage pauses until the month turns or you upgrade: new messages, new users, sending email, or new rooms and recordings. Everything else keeps working, and it resumes within a minute of upgrading to Pro.
- Can a Pro bill surprise me?
- Only if you let it. Set a spend cap in the Console: when the month's charges past the allowance reach it, only what adds charges pauses until the month turns. Usage from before you upgraded is never charged.
- How am I billed?
- Pro's €20 is charged at the start of each calendar month (UTC); the first month is pro rata. Usage past the allowance is billed at the end of the month. Stripe charges the card on file and emails the invoice. Prices exclude VAT; business customers in the EU with a valid VAT ID get reverse charge.
- How is usage counted?
- Per organisation, across all of its realms. A realtime message counts once when it is sent, however many people or agents receive it, and a streamed AI answer counts as one message whatever its length. Users and agents are those with an active handle, counted at the end of the month. See how realtime is counted above.
- Can I stop paying?
- Yes, at any time, in the billing portal. Pro runs to the end of the month, usage past the allowance appears on a final invoice, and the organisation goes back to Free.
- Is there a minimum or a contract?
- No seats and no contract: Pro is €20 a month, cancel any time. Enterprise agreements, from €1,000 a month, add volume prices, invoicing, a dedicated region or network, and an SLA.
