How it fits together

Before you claim

Is claiming free?: Yes. Verify your email, confirm on this device, and claim @you. No payment at signup.
Why do you need my email?: One handle per email stops squatting and helps you recover. We store a hash of your email, not your chats.
Why do keys stay on my device?: Signing and encryption keys are generated in your browser and never uploaded. Relays only see sealed envelopes.
When can I start messaging?: Your handle is held until the OpenPulse app launches. We will email you when messaging opens.
How do I sign in later?: Passkey or fingerprint day to day. Email is only for verification and getting back in on a new device.

Every handle is unique. Once @you is taken, it is gone. Claiming is free and takes about thirty seconds.
